College recruiting under scrutiny amid sex and party allegations
AP columnist Steve Wilstein notes the Mentors in Violence Prevention program spans 115 college athletic departments and cites estimates that one in seven female students is sexually assaulted on campuses. He stresses athletes are not uniquely implicated though risky campus climates fuel problems. Instances at BYU and Minnesota recruits, plus alcohol and sex offers, are mentioned, while Leigh Steinberg questions how widespread such recruiting misconduct remains today.
