The Passion of the Christ Opens Nationwide Ash Wednesday
The graphic Mel Gibson film depicting the last hours and crucifixion of Jesus Christ opens in theaters nationwide on Ash Wednesday. It has sparked debate over motives and anti Semitism while receiving rave advance reviews from supporters and religious leaders endorsing its proclamation of the cross. The piece emphasizes the clash between belief and rejection and the film’s spiritual message.
