Gander track reunion honors late coach Beverly Rockhold
Enthusiastic Gander track alumni gathered February 12 in Bryan to celebrate coach Beverly Rockhold with 60 attendees including 40 ex-tracksters from 1954 to 1966 and 18 National Track and Field Honor Roll inductees. Organizers Richard Bain Sumner Bowen and Art Whitmer recalled Rockhold’s talent and motivation, noting memories of the 1950s teams and record performances such as the 1961 state champion mile relay and 1962 100-yard dash junior record.
