President Joey Enderli notes plans trace back to Rita damage and that, once permit is filed, two weeks to erect the barn and two more weeks to wire and pen setup depend on weather. He appeals to county commissioners to speed approvals before the May event.
The Harris County Republican Party faces one primary challenge with Incumbent County Treasurer Jack Cato drawing Orlando Sanchez. Cato, 70, has led since 1999 after long TV and stock exchange work and a stint at KPRC-TV. Sanchez, a former Houston City Council member, filed to run for the March 7 primary.
Baytown plans two public safety sales tax districts for police and for fire EMS and communications with a one eighth cent tax in all Baytown. Each district could raise about 750000 dollars annually though voters must approve both separately. Council members serve as temporary board members and may fund a hot spot patrol squad by hiring ten officers amid city growth.
