Albert Thomas congressman lay in state at Settegast Kopf Funeral Home in Houston after arriving from Washington by Air Force C-8. Funeral services are planned for 2 PM Friday at First Methodist Church Houston with burial at the Veterans Administration Cemetery. numerous officials and dignitaries, including President Johnson, will attend the memorial in Washington.
In a global briefing, Soviets denounce American bombers with nuclear loads as a breach of the 1963 partial test leap treaty. The report mentions school closures in Los Angeles linked to a virus and notes on Viet Nam casualties among Texans. France launches two three stage rockets with a 40 pound satellite, marking a second all French lift. Dominican Republic labor leaders end a damaging general strike after promises to send two top officers abroad, with terrorism costs cited at least twenty lives in eight days.
At a 6 30 p m business meeting the Citizens for Lee College outlined work plans to win approval of the 1 3 million bond. They target Baytown civic clubs and seek a Lee College Week proclamation for Feb 27 to March 5. Donations may be sent to Harrop or local Baytown banks. A Feb 23 meeting was set.

A Baytown legislative hearing on adding crossings to the Houston Ship Channel was postponed due to the Texas Legislature special session. Rep. John Ray Harrison says the hearing is rescheduled for March after interim committee hearings at North Shore and Pasadena. Attendees urged a bridge soon. Harrison hopes the voter registration session ends within a couple of weeks.
