Goose Creek seeks class size waivers and new elementary name
Goose Creek ISD asked the Texas Education Agency to relax class size limits after seven of its 14 campuses reported cohorts exceeding 22 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The board approved attendance-zone changes tied to a 14th elementary campus and discussed naming it at a Tuesday meeting, with 10 name nominations including Sam Houston and David G. Burnet. The district notes some classes run 22 to 25 students but aims to shift students to balance classes, and maintains that fully qualified teachers are prioritized over adding new staff.
