Police report multiple thefts in Baytown Tuesday night and Wednesday. W W Frazier of Bayshore Motors says six tires were stolen from customers cars on the company lot valued at 588. Herbert P Kettler reports front tires taken from his Beaumont apartment car valued at 148. Dorris Wiggens reports a portable television and clothing stolen from a pickup valued at 43.
A Bay tonian’s bathroom suffered a towel fire from a burning candle on Wednesday night. Smoke damaged the bathroom and extended to the hallway. No injuries reported. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and investigated its cause.
Sherron details methods used to combat theft and vandalism in schools. He describes undercover workers in janitor and maintenance roles and the use of hidden tape recorders as part of investigations, plus plans for an electronic alarm tied to the Baytown Police Dispatcher.
The Army held a two and a half mile run for offensive linemen on the first morning of 1973 drills. Caslen, sophomore center from Jay Vt, finished first.

Baytown youths Denver Eugene Baker and Robert Lee Sutterfield both 17 were charged with theft after deputies said they rode a stolen 1972 motorcycle on Jones Road Highlands. Baker also faced possession of marihuana. The bike, reportedly stolen from Lee College, was found in weeds near Barrymore and West Main. The pair were held at Baytown jail for questioning after initial detention in Houston.
Jeffery McDonald 15 son of Mr and Mrs LR McDonald received the Eagle Award at Troop 101 Court of Honor. Robert Fairchild earned star rank and a recruiting patch along with merit badges. Tracy Evans won the citizenship skill award and a personal management badge. New members Curtis Barton Jay Newton James Moan joined. Multiple leaders and officers named. troop sponsored by Memorial Baptist Church with James Thompson as scout master.
Elks Lodge No 2753 holds a Valentine Dance to aid the Max Baer Heart Fund from Saturday evening to early Sunday at 122 North 9th Street La Porte. Tickets are four dollars per couple.
A homemade chili supper with crackers and beverage will be served Friday evening at Roseland Park Pavilion and a separate district sweetheart contest will be held in Crosby, with meals priced at 1.00 for adults and 0.50 for children. Ronald F. Laird will attend a Realtors meeting Feb. 21 at the Shamrock Hilton in Dallas as light rain spreads across West and Central Texas ahead of a cold front.
