Beebe bears flechette wound from Vietnam firefight
Platoon sergeant Alfred Beebe of Broseley Missouri describes a night near the Cambodian border when flechettes pierced his back and belly. He walked from the firefight to evacuation, then back to duty after doctors initially misdiagnosed the injuries. His arm wounds and a belly puncture were treated, and he returned to his unit with letters to his wife in Columbus Georgia. Captain Eli Wayne recalls Beebe as a tough, lucky soldier who insisted on care.
