Gasoline prices have climbed in recent weeks at a Baytown corner store near Rollingbrook Drive and Garth Road. The report notes higher fuel costs and ongoing price movements affecting local drivers.
Gas price tracking site Houstongasprices .com reports James Food Mart at 2206 E James St near Kilgore offered the region’s lowest regular unleaded at 3.33 per gallon on Saturday afternoon, up four cents from Wednesday’s level.

Bay Beach City residents near Cedar Gully Road are urged to stay alert after two sightings of a large wild cat, possibly a bobcat or mountain lion. Mayor Billy Combs, who reported one sighting, warns walkers with small pets to be cautious during late afternoon and early evening hours. He notes the area’s 13,000 acres of undeveloped land in adjacent Baytown support predator presence.
Lee College appointed Dr. Adiagha Mbonisi as director of the H S I STEM grant funded by the Department of Education. The $840,000 grant for 2011 2012 supports five years totaling over $4 million to boost STEM graduates. Mbonisi, born in Gladewater, holds degrees from the University of Houston and Capella University.
