Bidding For LC Board Of Regents Seat
Ivas Montgomery a Humble Baytown Refinery worker has become the fifth candidate to file for the Lee College Board of Regents. Also filing Monday were Steele M. McDonald a longtime Baytown businessman Edward Rutledge a certified public accountant and resident for six years. Incumbents Sam Bramlett and Dr. Ben Ammons have filed for re election. Montgomery has three and a half years at Humble Baytown Refinery and prior posts include the U S Post Office and Central Freight Lines. Rutledge is a local CPA with a UH BBA and service in the U S Army. McDonald, 46, started in insurance and real estate here in 1944 and has since 1967 focused on real estate from 1215 N Pruett. Montgomery has served three years as secretary of the Gulf Coast Industrial Workers Union.

HL&P to trial Cedar Bayou 750kW unit this year
HL&P plans a late 1970 trial of a Cedar Bayou 750,000 kilowatt unit with full operation in 1971 and a second 730,000 kilowatt unit by late 1971. The plant will add about 1.5 million kilowatts of capacity as HL&P invests $133.857 million in 1970 for generation, transmission, distribution, and service facilities to meet Houston area demand.

Outside Study Is Spurned By School Board Policy Narrowing Disruptions
The school board approved a policy extending authority to suspend or expel students who disrupt classes or use drugs not prescribed by a physician.
