Pedestrian Killed in Baytown Rain Crash
In Baytown heavy rain caused the area’s first fatality of 1953. Robert Wayne Redden, 65, was struck while crossing North Main Street by a car driven by I Harrington after returning from town. He died at the scene. The accident also involved John Pagan and Donald Meadara, injured on Best Wallisville Road. Harrington remained with the dying man as medics were called. Redden, a Victory Cafe employee, leaves a son and daughter and siblings. The vehicle left the scene briefly before authorities arrived.
