Lee College approves 250000 revenue bonds for HL&P plant

Lee College regents authorize sale of 250000 revenue bonds to buy the old Houston Lighting and Power property and remodel college buildings. Bonds retire over 10 years beginning Feb 15 1973 with interest about 4.54 percent. Debt service estimated at 32000 yearly. building use fees fund bond payments. no tax monies used. The 60 bonds of 5000 each include a reserve with 6704 annually until 32034 accumulated.

Tragic Orton Family Dies in Pago Pago Jet Crash

Norman Orton 41 and his three daughters Glenna 19 Susan 15 Jennifer 7 were killed when Pan American 707 crashed near Pago Pago during heavy rain. Surviving relatives include parents Joe and Virginia Orton and siblings Harold and Gerald Wayne. The family had lived in Australia the past four years en route to Baytown for a weeklong vacation.
