Bond election decision delayed over signing Ordinance 1021

The hearing before Judge William Holland and City officials revolved around whether Ordinance 1021 calling a bond election on March 17 had been properly signed. Judge Rayburn questioned the process as Love asserted the ordinance remained unsigned and that election steps, including posting at polling places and council approvals, were not clearly completed. The Taxpayers Alliance alleged delinquencies by Mayor Walker and Councilman Evans, while the city contends such challenges belong in a quo warranto proceeding. Judge Rayburn noted land purchases funded by bonds might rush urgency if bond sales lag.
