Teachers study human development across Texas system
The program partnered with the University of Texas and several co-operating colleges to award graduate credit. Off campus workshops occurred in Abilene Dallas Gladewater Kilgore Marshall Midland San Angelo Webster and Monterrey Mex. Of 478 participants 260 earned graduate credit. The effort began in Corpus Christi in 1943 led by Dr Daniel Prescott and Dr James Knight and became statewide in 1946. Willie Holdsworth now assists Knight. The experience emphasizes parent involvement and viewing the child as a growing individual in a social setting. The Philippines government rejected a request by the American embassy to provide guards at its Manila compound saying it would harm national sovereignty and public order.
