Shoe theft leads to shooting at Baytown park rescue
Baytown police say a 20-year-old Poteet man sold shoes on Snapchat and met buyers at Dyer Avenue. An armed trio abducted the victim, drove to Houston and back, ending at Huron Park where the victim grabbed a gun and shot one assailant. Cadrick Bell-Cooper, Javon Blake, and a 16-year-old were charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping. Bell-Cooper, 18, was hospitalized and faces arrest upon release. he previously posted bond on an aggravated robbery case.

In 2019 the Baytown Deer Park Crosby area faced several major industrial fires. ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery saw a Hydrofining Unit blaze on March 6, ITC Deer Park burned for days after an explosion on March 17, and KMCO Crosby reported a fatal April 2 fire with one worker killed and two seriously hurt. A July 31 ExxonMobil Baytown fire followed. Harris County sued ExxonMobil in May alleging Clean Air Act violations. A Dec 1 report cited equipment failure near a storage tank at ITC as the Deer Park fire’s cause.

Stolen Baytown Car Recovered After Beach City Stop
A call about four suspicious males at a Beach City convenience store led deputies to the black Honda Accord reported stolen from Baytown. Thomas Poore and Brandon Castaneda were arrested after officers located three suspects and the vehicle. Poore was found with methamphetamine on his person.
