Baytown officials responded to a lawsuit from Baytown Professional Firefighters Local 1173 over wages after the union sought a 12 percent across the board raise. A court-appointed master to investigate the dispute is being considered if mediation fails, with arbitration-like outcomes possible. Union president-elect Mark Medrano could not comment.
