Tax Deputies to Accept Tax Payments in Highlands

Harris County tax assessor collector deputies will visit Highlands January 19 and 20 to accept tax payments register voters and accept property renditions. They will be at the Water Control and Improvement District office 125 San Jacinto from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch 12 to 1 p.m.

Patricia Kay Segrest, 13, dies from internal and head injuries after being struck in the 100 block of Cabaniss. Siblings Jeanne Segrest, 4, and Ronald Glenn Kimmey, 14, injured. Driver Scott Beetler, 17, says he was blinded by headlights. no charges filed. Body sent to Longview for services with burial planned for Wednesday.

Navy aims to prevent tooth decay for submariners and spaceflight, where access to dentists is limited. With about 800 million decayed teeth in the U S and children averaging three decayed teeth by school age and 11 by age 15, eliminating caries could free dentists’ time and save about $1 billion annually in patient costs. Funeral Rites for Norman Durdin Barbers Hill Trustee

Funeral services were held for Norman Gene Durdin 40 of Mont Belvieu secretary of the Barbers Hill School Board. Durdin died from head injuries after a deer hunting accident near Centerville. He was an operator for Shell Oil Co and a member of local unions and committees. He was re elected to the school board this spring. Survivors include his wife a daughter and a son. Burial in Humble. Pallbearers named.
