Holman sees brighter basketball after CCNY scandal
NYU coach Nat Holman, who lost many players in the 1953 college basketball scandal at CCNY, predicts basketball will be stronger and better in coming seasons. He cites four of his 1949-50 champs guilty of throwing games and notes other CCNY players left after entrance papers were questioned. Holman blames players more than coaches and says parents watching games influence behavior. He emphasizes individual responsibility and reflects on the era’s impact on the sport.
