Anahuac monument to honor Travis and Jack held at brick kiln site
Shaw outlines a project near Fort Anahuac featuring statues encircled by a brick plaza and brick seat walls paying tribute to the 1832 brick kilns where Travis and Jack were held. Wayside signs will depict key scenes, including the 1832 jail, Travis’s 1835 return, and Fort Anahuac, with a cannon to be placed beside the sign. The project involves local historians and artists Gary Zaboly, with the Chambers County Parks and Road and Bridge Departments aiding digs. The unveiling date remains undecided.
