Post-Christmas shoppers temper expectations at San Jacinto Mall
Shoppers expressed disbelief as post holiday returns were light at San Jacinto Mall. Macy's perfume items were 30 percent off and other stores, including The Avenue and Gordon's Jewelers, offered deep discounts up to 70 percent. Some shoppers exchanged items or bought lunch while awaiting movie releases at Premier Cinema. The AP notes 2006 pre-Christmas sales fell short, highlighting gift cards as a growing factor in retail balance sheets.
