23 Cars Are Involved In Area Wrecks
Baytown logged a holiday weekend of crashes with 23 cars involved. James Williams, 39, of Houston was killed when his vehicle hit a telephone pole and tree on South Main Street in Highlands at about 2 10 a.m. Monday. Four people injured in a Saturday collision at Airhart and Lynchburg were treated at the hospital, including Alfredo and Gilberto Pance and Nancy Pance. one driver faced multiple charges after the wreck. East Harris county Democrats pushed a poll tax selling campaign into high gear as deputies operated from Democratic Headquarters at 3405 Market in the old Steele McDonald offices. Chairman C. D. Little said the group offered poll taxes as a public service with offices open daily from 2 pm to 7 pm. All deputies were Bartown area residents. The offices were rented for selling poll taxes and no other activities would occur there soon.

Flood Waters Again Pour Into Yuba City
Flood waters from the Feather River poured through a 600 foot gap in the levee at Yuba City flooding half the town and forcing 10,000 residents to flee last Saturday. The new crest rose three inches per hour at night and kept looters away with armed guards. Officials fear as many as 100 victims may remain. Police Subdue Jobless Bus Driver In Hail Of Bullets
In Houston a 32 year old unemployed man fired 38 rounds from a Christmas rifle at two officers before surrendering when tear gas was used. Thadius J.
