Beatles Bedazzle Critics Praise New Beatles LP
Britain's critics lavish praise on the Beatles self titled double LP asserting it as a major musical event. The Times calls it the year’s most important musical event while Observer compares them favorably with Schubert. Guardian hails them as postscientific age pioneers with 36 new songs, and pre-release sales exceed two million pounds. Some critics deride the notion of pop music as high art, but consensus holds the album an impressive performance with wide range influences and varied song styles.
