Outsider David Lee joins Baytown mayoral race in 2004
Two-time mayoral candidate David Lee announced a renewed bid for Baytown mayor, becoming the third entrant two months before filing. He opposes new sales tax to replace the Crime and Control Prevention District tax, pledging a grassroots campaign and tighter budgets to address city infrastructure. Councilmen Calvin Mundiiver and Mercedes Renterias also entered the race. Mayor Pete Alfaro will not seek reelection.
