Baytown native heads to Iraq on peace mission
Baytown native Charlie Jackson a 43 year old San Antonio based software consultant leaves for a two week peacemaking mission to Iraq with the Christian Peacemaker Teams. The Sterling High School and Lee College alumnus grew up in Baytown where his family remains supportive. He says the aim is to show Iraqis not all Americans back war and to tell the U S government that many oppose an attack. Jackson notes concerns about Iraq and oil profits but asserts no provocation for war with credible evidence lacking. He will travel with activists to express opposition and warn against setting a precedent.
