Not In Bond Program City Council To Hear Bayway Drive Protest
A Bayway Drive protest at the City Council meets Tuesday as residents from Weaste Brownwood and Lakewood demand inclusion in a $3 million street improvement plan tied to a February bond election. Mrs J Venable cites misrepresentation by officials about Bayway Drive in the bond program. Mayor Liggett admits confusion over Bayway Drive's inclusion and urges citizen support to press for inclusion, noting the road is county maintained. City Manager Lanham says Bayway Drive is a county road and confirms no current city plan to widen it, though the city could work with the county.
