Bell of Humble Oil reports an air search over East Texas bay areas found no surface oil slicks within five miles of the Houston Ship Channels Trinity Bay Galveston Bay or near Morgan's Point Bell said largest accumulations were about 200 yards by 50 yards There was no pollution observed around producing installations or Red Fish Reef field flow lines broken by oystering. Samples from San Leon ship channel Galveston Bay and Trinity were taken for testing.

The U S Post Office Department will again seek competitive bids to build and lease a new main Highlands post office on Crosby Lynchburg Road between Faith Street and a private road. Bids due by 1 30 p m January 30, with a 20 year basic lease and options to 30 years. The current office since 1940 covers about 1700 to 1800 square feet.
