Lee College faces unclear impact from proposed state funding cuts
President Robert Cloud said it is too early to estimate how the LBB proposed cuts will affect Lee College. He expects senior institutions to feel more impact than junior colleges and says LC will work with the Legislative Budget Board. The 1984-85 budget forecasts 60 percent of revenue from state sources. University of Houston at Clear Lake Chancellor Thomas M. Stauffer calls the cuts draconian, warning closures and tuition spikes could follow. The LBB plan would remove $586 million from junior and senior colleges over two years, about 74 percent of requested funding. Junior colleges would lose $92.4 million.
