Navy Commander Swears Children Into Service In Denton
Navy Reserve Cmdr. W. E. McMillen has sworn in his children into the Navy in Denton, administering the oath to a fourth child. The tale traces three McMillen offspring: daughter Mrs. Jim Wood joined the WAVE in 1950, son Michael entered Navy service in 1952, and later earned an ensign’s commission, all while McMillen remained the oath provider. In civilian life he works for the Office of Emergency Planning in Denton.
