The Southland Conference met in Dallas but did not act on hiring a commissioner. Dr. J. W. Roberts announced a decision is expected soon. The spring meet will be at Abilene from May 89 with additions to track events to meet Olympic standards. The annual cross country meet is planned for November in Arlington. Members include Abilene Christian, Arlington State, Lamar Tech, Trinity, and Arkansas State.
