Women Progress in Soil Conservation Agency
Washington AP reports women are steadily gaining professional roles in the Soil Conservation Service, part of the Agriculture Department. As of Sept 30 the agency employed 13,783 permanent full-time staff, including 1,697 women, up more than 25 percent from the previous year, though women still make up only 12.3 percent of the total workforce.
