First-Graders Receive 1300 Books in Christmas Gift
More than 1,300 first graders in public and private schools in Baytown were handed two books each during the annual Storybook Christmas event. Mayor pushes May tax vote in Baytown
Baytown Mayor Pete Alfaro urged the City Council to place a half cent sales tax on the May ballot to replace the CCPD tax that failed in 2001. The CCPD brings about 3 million annually and ends Jan 1. Alfaro favored a street repair option in quarter or eighth cent increments and warned only one option be on the ballot to focus passage.
