Branding Iron Collecting Proves Interesting Hobby
KINGSVILLE TEXAP Leonard Stiles a longtime King Ranch worker and former Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers inspector began collecting branding irons after a Matagorda County store encounter. His holdings trace brands to 1800s Texas families, with the oldest dating to 1819. He preserves originals and refuses to sell, noting most irons come from South and East Texas and many remain in use on ranches.
