Son of ex-Dem governor to challenge Abbott
Drew White, son of late Texas Gov. Mark White, launched a longshot bid for governor in Houston. He positions as a commonsense Democrat with business sense and conservative values, seeks to upend incumbent Greg Abbott, and spoke at a rally with about 100 supporters. White, 45, did not oppose abortion in his speech, calling it legal and urging safety and rarity. He leads an investment firm and is little known statewide, becoming the second major Democrat in the race as many others stay out.
