Probers seek new powers to aid Kennedy inquiry
Senators Russell and Cooper push a sweeping resolution granting Congress subpoena immunity to compel testimony from reluctant witnesses for the Warren Commission. The measure, supported by President Johnson’s aide, would extend federal court enforcement and could curb interference with the probe into JFK’s assassination. Meanwhile, Dallas revelations link Oswald to earlier rifle questions as officers press new angles, with Walker and Paine figures cited in the ongoing saga.
