Baytown banker L Lee Brasfield wired 103 to a Puebla hospital to settle a young Mexican girl's bill after a report that she was kept there as her parents, itinerant workers, could not pay. Kilgore Post 456 Named For Viet Victim In Baytown
New American Legion post Kilgore Post 456 of Baytown will receive its charter at 2 30 pm on December 10 with a reception at the Holiday Inn. Charles Howard Kilgore a Baytown native killed near Chu Lai Vietnam September 22 1967 is the post namesake. Kilgore promoted posthumously to corporal September 28 1967 receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart to be presented to his widow. Post officers include Jesse Wilson commander Robert New first vice commander James Co McCaleb adjutant and finance officer Marjorie Humphrey chaplain. Meetings planned the first and fourth Wednesdays each month in Room 4 at the new Civic Center.

Sterling High School drama club Spotlighters will present the comedy Cheaper By The Devon at 3 p.m. Friday in the school auditorium. The play centers on a family of 32 and their father, an efficiency expert facing heart trouble. Cast includes Greg Sanders as the father, Beverly Threadgill as the mother, Suzette Partin as Am Gilbreth, and Randy Calhoon as Dr. Burton, with many other students filling key roles. The production team features Wayne Talbot as assistant director and Audie Morgan as stage manager.

Portion Of Interstate 10 Blocked By Fog Calamity
A fog shrouded stretch of Interstate 10 near the Trinity River caused a chain of crashes early Thursday injuring more than two dozen people and damaging about 25 vehicles. Rescue units faced near zero visibility as they evacuated victims and sought to clear wreckage. Most injured were transported to Beaumont area hospitals while authorities closed I-10 to traffic for hours.
