Pilgrims Worship At English Shrine
Glastonbury, England hosts a venerable pilgrimage site where legends tie Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea, and King Arthur to the ruined abbey. Archaeology suggests a Celtic pagan temple precedes Christian legends, with Joseph said to have buried Christ and preached there. Local lore places an ancient thorn tree at Weary-All Hill, blossoming at Christmas and Easter.

U.S.-Russia Work On Cold War Plan
United States and Soviet Union moved to seek cold war solutions while avoiding a head on clash over UN finances. Secretary of State Dean Rusk arranged a third meeting with Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko for Saturday, with talks on disarmament and trade. U.S. officials say Moscow remains under committee rule, unlikely to shift radically. Gromyko privately downplayed Congo and Vietnam charges, showing interest in broadening the 1963 nuclear test ban. extension to underground tests could be explored at Geneva. The UN finances dispute over peacekeeping dues is sidelined as questions loom on how the Soviets will pay to avoid losing General Assembly votes. Thant is to handle the issue.
