Pastor Light and Harris attended a Houston ship channel inspection tour hosted by the Baytown Board of Realtors Inc. The event showcased the port area and its facilities to visiting guests and local officials. Both figures toured key sites and discussed potential developments along the channel.
SUN Spots reports 30-year-old Army Captain Billy C. Tubble vile assigned to the Third Armored Division in Germany. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Coye L. Tubbleville of 213 East Main, La Porte. Also noted are Galveston tides and a pneumonia admission at Gulf Coast Hospital, plus a student recital hosted by the San Jacinto Music Teachers Assn at 3 p.m. Sunday hosted by Mrs. F.E.A. Milton.

Mrs. Carl E. Reasoner aged 42 of Baytown died at 2 a.m. Friday in a Baytown hospital. Born March 26, 1917 in Austin she moved to Baytown 18 years ago. Survived by husband Carl E. Reasoner of Baytown a daughter Mrs. K. K. Kulbeth of Houston three sons Donald Earnest Reasoner James Alden Reasoner and Charles Erwin Reasoner all of Baytown one brother Clifton Campbell of Fort Worth one sister Mrs. Charles Whaley of Lancaster. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Paul A. Lee Funeral Home with Rev. L. W. LaRive and Rev. Jesse Dunn officiating. Burial will be Cedar Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers Alvin Dean W. L. Casey C. D. Hebel Billy Kinney A. W. Hunt and R. L Gartner.
A coin telephone was removed from the wall at U Wash Em 521 West Main when the collector checked the coin box. Assistant Police Chief Freeman and Officer Barfield investigated. About 25 dollars was in the box and the instrument valued at 75 dollars, taken with a screwdriver.
November rainfall in the Bay town totaled 2.05 inches, 1.98 inches below the 71 year average. The heaviest rainfall occurred on November 28 with 1.15 inches, and the year to date through November reached 59.38 inches, 17.20 inches above AVCTARC.
About 800000 Louisianans vote today in the first Democratic primary seeking Earl K. Long's successor. Eleven candidates run for governor and other state and local offices. New Orleans Mayor deLesseps Morrison and former Gov. Jimmie Davis appear strongest for a runoff, with Jan. 9 as the potential runoff date.
Phillips of La Porte plans to give away his dog Eddie for the annual Good Turn Day clothing drive. At 1 pm Sunday area Boy Scouts will collect repairable items to aid handicapped workers through Goodwill Industries of Houston. Eddie is not part of the bag to be picked up. Allen changed his mind after the photographer left and will keep Eddie until next year’s drive.
A Baytown newspaper appeals for Goodfellows donations to fund Christmas relief for needy children. The feature retells Uncle Scrooge’s transformation and urges readers to support Baytown’s Goodfellows to ensure local kids hear Santa Claus arrive.
In Rome President Eisenhower, upbeat in spite of rain, discusses Western summit prospects with Prime Minister Antonio Segni. The leaders review Paris talks expected December 19 while Hagerty notes Italy did not seek an observer role. Eisenhower pledges to seek a better life for his grandchildren and to press forward with defenses against communism.
Boy Scouts Cub Scouts and Explorers will collect repairable materials Sunday in Baytown La Porte and Highlands starting at 4 PM as part of Good Turn Day. About 20 000 Song Houston Area Council Scouts participate to fund jobs for handicapped through Goodwill Industries.
Baytown photos feature area pioneer Mrs. Lon Perkins showing Christives handiwork in her hobby shag. The couple lived in Baytown for many years before moving to Wooster in 1938, having come from Dayton in a Goone Cree.
Lon and Mary Perkins of Wooster recount the easygoing era before the Goose Creek oil boom. Perkins, a former Southern Pacific locomotive engineer, once drove a train and carried a shotgun to hunt ducks along the Dayton to Goose Creek route. Their life in Dayton and Goose Creek included building a home in 1922 and memorable rides for his daughter Rosa. The story notes his long career and the couple’s perseverance during early 20th century industrial growth.
AP bulletins report James Bored from Meadville Mississippi testifies about a 2000 pound bomb that knocked out power of a National Pride ship after its sinking near Galveston killing 11 including a friend GC Coward. Santa Fe passenger train derailed after hitting stalled trailer truck injuring two crew members and sparing 35 passengers. Fireman Wugh Hayes of Galveston rushed to hospital with head and back injuries. Engineer G.W. Marchadd of Galveston treated for envy and bruises then held for observation.
