Shivers Praises Texas Conservation Efforts At Oil Meet
Texas Governor Allan Shivers, speaking before the Interstate Oil Compact Commission, hailed state enforced conservation through cycling plants. He cited Texas as home to 35 of the nation's cycling plants, with about 65 billion cubic feet of gas cycled monthly, and argued private enterprise under state regulation should drive future oil and gas development. In Houston, five men faced charges after a violent flare in the limousine strike, with two cars damaged and injuries reported as tensions rose among striking and non-striking drivers.
