Hazel Ella Somers aged 59 of 1005 Lakeside Drive Channelview was killed by a single .22 pistol shot to the chest Friday around 5:15 p.m. Sheriff officials say the shooting was personal safety related and her husband Jack Somers found her in their bedroom. Survivors include her husband, son Jack L. Somers Jr. of Houston, daughter Mrs. Chester Merton of Hitchcock, two sisters, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. Burial will be in San Jacinto Memorial Park. Services pending at Glendale Funeral Home on Federal Road.
