Goose hunting remains strong across Texas prairies and Panhandle
Goose hunting remains robust with coastal prairies east and west of Houston highlighted as hubs and Colorado County leading Texas in goose harvest. In the Panhandle, High Plains outfitters report limits on Canadas and many snow geese, aided by dry conditions shrinking water and concentrating birds. Water scarcity on Llano Estacado boosts roosting pressure while Lake Etter houses large goose numbers, and juvenile snow geese appear plentiful this season. Farther south near Lubbock, Knox County and Haskell County report solid hunting with Canal das and speckle belies still present, though habitat remains dry and rainfall lags needed replenishment.
