General Telephone will implement a mechanized percept system for customers who change numbers starting Thursday. Bob J. Wilson, division manager in Bay Lawn, said the new service will be provided at no extra charge to customers who move or change locations.
General Houston announces a new computerized intercept system for telephone service. Residential and business customers will receive a new service number within 24 hours, with the mechanized system reflecting the new number twice if the customer signs on. Wilson describes the process and timing on the line.
Rep Anthony Moffett says support for President Carter's crude oil tax is weakening in both chambers. He notes Senate and House defections over the plan, with concerns the tax would raise gasoline prices while offering consumer rebates, and that energy incentives may be sold as corporate concessions.
