Third Red Cross shelter opens at Memorial Baptist
A third American Red Cross shelter opened in Baytown at Memorial Baptist Church to house about 200 more Louisiana evacuees who can no longer afford hotel nights. The move comes as Interstate 10 remains closed east of Baton Rouge, delaying any return home. The shelter at 600 W Sterling St was chosen after the Baytown Community Center reached capacity, with showers and bathrooms at Lee College remaining available for evacuees and supplies supplied.
