Oil spill unlikely to affect Baytown area
Exxon Pipeline Co and EPA officials say the San Jacinto River spill near Baytown will have minimal environmental impact. About 1,760 of 2,200 barrels spilled had been cleaned by Thursday morning, with booms confining most oil to the east bank north of I-10. The break on a 20 inch line about 100 feet south of the bridge may have been caused by a passing barge. repairs are expected by weekend.
