A weak tropical low moved from southern Florida into the Gulf of Mexico and could strengthen slowly. Forecaster John Hope said it is too weak to threaten land and may drift west northwest before turning north, bringing rain to drought areas but no injuries or damage reported.

Baytown Man Found Dead At Home In Gas Asphyxiation
Baytown resident James Builer Ingram, 42, was found dead in his home after natural gas asphyxiation. Officers say he had been dead since midnight Saturday. the gas jet was on and windows closed. Services set for Monday at Second Baptist Church with graveside at East Mount Cemetery in Greenville.

Baytonians survive Grand Canyon trip and narrow mule escape
H C Curt Ball his son Joel and J H Hal Thomas recall a 1971 Grand Canyon adventure with Richard Owen and others. After river rafting through Marble and Grand Canyons they faced a severe mountain storm while returning via mules along the Bright Angel Trail. Ball notes the mules sensed danger and diverted to safety as one rider tumbled. Ball’s mule led the retreat down the narrow, slippery trail.
