Baytown Police Seek Raises Ahead of City Budget
Baytown police officers and city workers pressured the City Council for pay raises before finalizing the budget. Sgt. Mike Holden said the force earns about 95 percent of the regional market value, proposing raises to top the market value to avoid future shortfalls as other cities raise pay in October. City Manager Gary Jackson cited current pay slightly below market value and floated about 140,000 dollars for police raises to adjust salaries, especially for higher ranks.
