Highlands II coach pleads no contest to forcing a fight

Baytown Highlands Little League coach Bobby Bumpers pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault in a case tied to a game incident. Judge Tony Polumbo deferred adjudication for 90 days and ordered $75 in fees plus a written apology, while denying a $500 fine. The 14 year old victim testified Bumpers urged a fight to settle a dispute, forming a circle around the two players for about five minutes. The teen said he fought only after being pushed back, and Bumpers later asked if the matter was settled. The grandmother who filed the complaint said she sought accountability and that her grandson was embarrassed and threatened.
