Fordham to be arraigned in Baytown murder case
Fordham 17 of Baytown is set for arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Judge Joseph Guarino's 183rd District Court on charges of murdering 11 year old Mary Stiles. Harris County Attorney Ted Wilson said the proceeding will be brief after a grand jury indicted Fordham for the fall death. Stiles disappeared Oct 31 and was found Nov 9 near the Woodhollow Apartment complex with autopsy showing stabbing, strangulation and asphyxiation.

Lee College Regents approve pay rise and delay pay cut plan
Lee College instructors cheered as the Board of Regents approved insurance cost increases for staff and delayed a 20 percent summer pay cut for instructors from the 1986-87 budget. Chairmen will be reappointed for the full year. Regents contrasted rising medical insurance with existing pay policy, noting costs would rise from 7 percent of step six to 7 percent plus higher premiums. They considered funding moves including an Exxon grant for a media center and redirecting earmarked funds to cover insurance shortfalls.
