Fire at Whiting refinery drives 1500 from homes
A massive oil refinery explosion at Whiting Indiana on Saturday forces about 1,500 people from a two square mile area. The Standard Oil complex, the largest complete refinery in the world, had tanks burning and firefighters plan to let the blaze burn out. Shell Explodes Among Children Killing Three in El Paso
In El Paso Texas a 90 millimeter armor piercing shell exploded among children around a small fire killing Zelma Morales aged four and George Valdez five and Ricardo Lujan ten. Ten others were injured including Ramon Ramirez and adult Mrs. Tomasa Venzuela. Police say the shell was found near Fort Bliss artillery ranges and the blast damaged a nearby apartment.
