Town of Louisville 1838 1847 Baytown history

Louisville was a short lived Texas town founded in 1838 by the Scott brothers near Point Pleasant on the San Jacinto. It featured a wharf, shipyard, dry dock, and a voting place from 1840 to 1843, but two successive hurricanes and limited growth led to its decline and eventual renaming as Scott's Place. The site later became Hagerman’s Landing and the Exxon Mobil dock area, with Midway Landing serving as a key steam ship stop through the 19th century.
