World Schools Pairs champions edge to gold in Slovakia
The first World Schools Pairs Championship for players born after 1985 was held June 30 to July 2 in Piestany Slovakia. Bartlomiej Igla and Artur Machno of Poland won gold with 58 match points from 66, defeating Andrzej Bernatowicz Jan Betley also of Poland and Pierre Franceschetti Andrea Landry of France. The winning deal featured a long spade and heart play and a dramatic club ruff sequence.
